Frequently Asked questions
Spring Forward – move the minute hand clockwise (to the right) one hour, stopping at the half hour to let the clock strike or chime and then proceeding for the remainder of the hour. By advancing the minute hand for the 60 minutes, the hour hand will automatically advance.
Fall Back – simply reach in, stop the pendulum from moving. Start the clock by swinging the pendulum an hour later.
We are open Monday through Friday from 10AM – 6PM, closed on Wednesdays; and on Saturday from 10AM – 4PM. We are closed on Sundays.
The Watch Pocket Jewelers is located in the Woodmoor Shopping Center in Silver Spring, MD. We are conveniently situated near the intersection of University Blvd. and Colesville Rd., in the area known as “Four Corners.” Our address is 10113 Colesville Road, Silver Spring, MD 20901.

Yes, we are now in our 3rd generation! The Watch Pocket was first opened by John Stohlman and then in 1999, his son, Matthew, purchased the store. Matt learned the trade of horology from his father. Horologists are those professionals involved with timekeeping apparatus, such as watches and clocks. Now, John’s grandson is part of the buisness as well. Yes. Restoration is a huge portion of our business. We work on all kinds of clocks, specializing in grandfather clocks and cockoo clocks, but can work on lots of clocks and watches, including your special watch or clock! Learn more about our clock repair services now.
